Live Review: Last House on Dead End Street (1977)

Here's one of my favorite scenes from the movie as well. Enjoy!

  1. Wow. On the evidence of the clip you are spot on about the atmospheric quality of the film. Actually, such is its reputation that what you show here looks more professional than I'd been led to believe.

  2. Thanks for the review. This was my first choice for you to review because I've only heard of it before. After watching your review, I'll probably pass on it though.

  3. Samuel - Hmmm, well I can't say the film is not without it's moments, but professional is probably not the word I would use...I love the film none the less--but I wouldn't want to steer you wrong. There are some brutally awful moments in the film as well.

Metalhead - Yeah this one is not for everyone. Most people will hate it and that is probably a good reaction. I on the other hand have issues. lol

  5. Probably a good idea to go with that instinct. lol

As I stated, most will not care for this movie.

  6. Hey Rev. Good review. Definitely doesn't look like a good movie though. lol I've seen some real stinkers, but this one really looks terrible. Thanks for doing the review. I'll probably stay away from this one unless I'm really hard up for something. Have a great weekend. Cheers!

  7. Rev., it's all relative. All I'm saying is that textual descriptions of LHODES made me surprised that the clip was not as incompetent as I expected. The gore scenes you showed in your review did look quite crappy, however. But the clip looked inspired, and having looked at that before your review, I had the same thought you did, which was that the lunatics in the movie had actually made the movie I was seeing. And the music was as implausibly awesome as you said. I lean toward being in the minority that might like the film, but I'm still undecided.

  8. Well if you ever check it out, I'd love to hear your opinon on it. To be totally honest, I'm not sure why I like it so much--I consider it one of my favorite horror films. I think under it all it has heart and that means a lot to me. I think Wilkins really was trying to make something no one had seen, just as he says in his character's narration. He didn't quite have the talent or budget to pull if off, but he certainly tried.
