I watched this again last night. It is becoming one of my favorite horror films. Despite some bad acting, it is very much a B movie with a load of A talent.

I have watched this review a few times, and am surprised I never commented before. I had not seen Alucarda in years, so likely did not want to talk out of school.

Alucarda was one of my first cult movie DVD purchases and I didn't regret it. Mexico is pretty well torn between devout Catholicism and angry anticlericalism and I saw both forces in action in this film, along with the naked chicks and blood. It's probably my favorite Mexican horror film.

I have seen Satanico Pandemonium, but wasn't that impressed--but I didn't hate it or anything (I don't think I can actually say I hate any nunsploitation film). Actually, most Mexican horror is only so-so for me. Alucarda being one of few to really impress me.

Make sure you check out the other great Mexican nunsploitation classic, Satanico Pandemonium, as well. Alucarda is the better of the two films though.
